Male Plastic Surgery

All You Need to Know about Male Plastic Surgery including different procedures, risks, costs, and recovery.

Plastic surgery is not just for the ladies; more and more men are going under the knife and are not ashamed of it. From facials to tummy tucks to full blown penis surgery, all options are on the table for male plastic surgery. It’s not all about vanity either as many cosmetic surgery options are often the answer to specific health problems.

The most popular male plastic surgery procedures tend to be rhinoplasty and breast reduction. Rhinoplasty is the medical term for a nose job and is aimed at putting right structural problems with the nose, or to decrease or increase its size for aesthetical appearance or for medical reasons. Breast reduction surgery aims to tackle those with large breasts that has resulted through hormonal imbalance, gynaecomastia, or from simply putting on too much weight.

Common male plastic surgery procedures

Liposuction: More popular than ever with guys, liposuction involves the removal of stubborn fatty deposits which cannot be removed by exercise and diet alone. Common areas treated are the stomach (lower abdomen), the thighs, buttocks, arms, calves, and the proverbial double-chin.

Male tummy tuck (abdominoplasty): This is one-up from liposuction in that, along with the removal of excessive fat, is the removal of excessive skin, as well as the suturing of the abdominal muscles to make the whole abdominal area tighter. A mini abdominoplasty is a faster, easier, less-invasive procedure.

Breast reduction: Men who have lost serious amounts of weight often end up with large, unsightly breasts that cannot be firmed up by exercise alone. Gynecomastia (hormonal imbalance that produces large breasts) may also be the cause and breast reduction may include the removal of glandular tissue as well as fat.

Penis surgery: Male penis surgery is performed to lengthen and/or widen the penis. The penis can typically be enlarged by an inch in length and about 30 percent circumference. New procedures can also enlarge the head of the penis, too.

Facial surgery

Facelift: A straightforward process that has the skin stretched across the face and any excess trimmed off. Wrinkles are removed with this process and it has the effect of taking several years off most people. A mini facelift is a popular alternative and tackles the loose skin leaving eve less scarring. Eye bag removal (blepharoplasty), eyelid correction (canthoplasty), and brow lifts can also accompany a facelift.

Laser surgery: Smoothes over rough and wrinkled skin with a pass of a specially adapted laser. Blemishes, age spots, and acne or medical scarring can also be treated.

Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping): One of the most popular male plastic surgery treatments that can increase, decrease, and alter the shape of the nose. Both the length and the width of the bridge and nostril area can be changed.

Otoplasty (ear correction): This is when the ears are pinned back for those conscious of sticking out ears.

There are several other male plastic surgery procedures available, such as chin implants and cheek reduction, and they are also very effective. Treatment times for most procedures is usually around two hours, while recovery times for the typical facelift, nose job, or tummy tuck is usually a couple of months with patients being able to return to work before this time.
