Male Liposuction
All You Need to Know about Male Liposuction including different procedures, risks, costs, and recovery.
Male liposuction is a relatively quick procedure to eradicate stubborn fatty deposits that typically accumulate under the skin of the lower stomach, but also under the chin, chest, sides, back and thighs. It is the type of fat that cannot be removed from regular exercise or by dieting and the procedure usually results in fast improvements in the shape of the body. Liposuction is not for overweight patients, however; it’s more for those who need spot fat removal in areas where the body may look disproportionate.
The benefits of liposuction are often as psychological as they are physical, in that the patient often develops a greater amount of self esteem through the effect of looking better. The most common male liposuction sites include the stomach, thighs, buttocks, hips, knees, arms, back, neck, or chin.
Liposuction attributes:
- Removal of fat deposits
- Removal of excess skin
- Often improved body contour
- Improved skin tone
- Scarcely visible scars
Liposuction surgery is a straightforward procedure which involves the surgeon making a tiny incision after which a narrow, flexible tube, known as a cannula, is inserted. The cannula is then pushed and pulled through the layer of fat to break up the offending fat cells, which are then vacuumed out. Scarring from these incisions is typically non-existent as the sites are carefully chosen for aesthetics as well as for the best effect of fat removal. Patients are monitored during the procedure and administered intravenous fluids during and after the surgery.
The procedure for male liposuction typically takes from 1 hour, 30 minutes, depending on the extent of the fat removal and of course the age and condition of the patient. Patients are often able to go home the same day, yet one or two days recovering in hospital may also be required. Pain can be relived by taking medication while easy walking is also good for pain and the healing process in general. A supportive elastic garment will need to be worn 24/7 for the first three weeks, followed by a further three weeks during the daytime. Bruising and swelling should be expected, which may be present for up to four weeks - dependent on the patient’s healing rate and the amount of fat removed.
Most patients who undergo liposuction can resume moderate exercise two weeks after the operation and full exercise after about one month. Office workers could return to work a few days after the surgery but no heavy lifting should be undertaken for at least four weeks. The small scars made by the incisions will eventually fade in time, which will be inspected during the follow-up visits for the months after surgery.
Guys who undergo male liposuction are generally very pleased with the results although expectations should be realistic. The shape of the body is often noticeably different post-surgery, particularly for those who have had stomach and buttock liposuction. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial for keeping your body shape tight after liposuction, which should involve a healthy diet and regular exercise.
